Nitin Vishnu Mokashi, a graduate farmer, has been cultivating watermelons for the last 3 to 4 years. He has agricultural land suitable for its cultivation. In November month, he planted watermelon seeds with the token method on plastic mulching paper. While cultivating watermelon, to control diseases like blight, rot, powdery mildew or pests like aphids, caterpillars, weevils etc. he had to use various chemical drugs. This increased the production cost of the crop.
In the current Rabi season, Mokashi planted watermelons (variety-Golden 786) on 5 acres of land. After 12 to 15 days of sowing, he sprayed Biofit Steamrich and Bio-99 for the first time. He then sprayed it again on the crops 3 times at an interval of 20 days. As a result, the growth of the crop was accelerated and it bloomed greatly in the flowering stage. Also, the size of the watermelon fruit increased. In the last week of November and December, he used Biofit N.P.K and Shet-1 L each with 200 litres of water through drip irrigation for a 1-acre area. With an increase in the availability of nutrients in fertilizers and the soil, the production increased too.
